Rising Talents from Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan

Yokohama is the second largest city in Japan with a population of 3.7million, and there are many rising talents from this part of the world.

From the world of acting, Mao Inoue at just 25 is becoming a regular face on Japanese television screens. She won Best Actress in the Television Drama Awards and received a newcomer award at the 16thHashida Awards for her performance in the Hana YoriDango series.

Yuichi Nakamura is a year younger and is best known to his country for the roles of KyosukeKiriya in the 2005 tokusatsu series Kamen Rider Hibiki, OtoyaHanazono in the 2006 midnight drama Princess Princess D, and Yuto Sakurai/Kamen Rider Zeronos in the 2007 tokusatsu series Kamen Rider Den-O.

Akiko Kobayashi is a voice actor and singer, and has featured in many roles, including Angel Tales, Ballad of a Shinigami, Detective Conan, Kakurenbo and The Marshmallow Times.

Ishigaki Ai was the support guitarist for The Mad Capsule Markets in the 1990s and has quickly become one of the country’s finest musicians. When he was just 20, he became the youngest member of the band he first joined and made his name at.

Asian Kung Fu Generation are a rock band, consisting of MasafumiGoto, Kensuke Kita and Takahiro Yamada, and drummer Kiyoshi Lijchi. The band is mainly influenced by seminal Western Punk and alternative rock, as well as power pop, and they are signed up to major Japanese music labels Ki/onn, Tofu and Okami.

Noodles is a Japanese alternative rock band currently consisting of Yoko, Ayumiand Ikuno. The band are well known for their song Love my Life, which they recorded for the movie with the same name, and since then they have been rising and selling out concerts to their adoring fans.

RisaNiigaki is a fifth generation member and current leader of the Japanese pop group Morning Musume. As a kid she grew up in Yokohama and has now been the longest serving member of her current band. She is also the current leader of Hello!

TiA is famous for her songs Ryuusei (part of the Naruto ending themes repertoire) and Every Time. Her single Promise is used as Yakitate!! Japans second opening song.

Teriyaki Boyzare a hip hop group that consist of Ilmari and Ryo Z, Verbal, Wise and Nigo. Their debut album from Def Jam recordings, titled Beef or Chicken, was produced by an array of rap and electronica producers, which has made them very popular since they burst onto the scene.

HitomiNabatame is one of Japan’s best voice actresses. She has affiliated with Ken Production. She has voiced for productions as the roles of Maki Tezuka, FukaHinami, My Nonaka and KoShiina. She also sings opening themes for many films.
