With its stunning beaches, beautiful weather and delicious sea food, Sydney on the West Coast of Australia is one of the most picturesque and enchanting parts of the world.
Unsurprisingly for an area enriched in beauty and resources, Sydney has produced and attracted a lot of successful and influential people over the years.
The influence of the region can be surprisingly far flung and a quick browse over the great and the good in Hollywood sees many of the top players having Sydney connections. For example leading man and Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman grew up in the area, as did Sixth Sense star Toni Collette.
As well as acting, Sydney as produced some outstanding creatives including the excellent writer, director and star of the smash hit Summer Heights High, Chris Lilley, as well as director of Moulin Rouge Baz Luhrmann, who also directed Cabaret and Australia as well as having chart success with the spoken word song Everybody is Free (To Wear Sunscreen).
Luhrmann isn’t the only person from Sydney to have chart success, Torn singer Natalie Imbruglia, soft rocker Delta Goodram and Black and Gold singer Sam Sparrohave all enjoyed chart success, as have DJ Trey and Hook N Sling.
Unsurprisingly for an area full of beautiful beaches and hot sun, many good looking people hail from Sydney such astop level models, Elle McPherson, Miranda Kerr and Jessica Hart.
Arguably the biggest obsession in Australia is sports and they can certainly boast a huge amount of successful sports stars in Sydney. Cricket legends, Steve Waugh, Jason Gillespie, David Warner and Michael Clarke, all hail from the region and although football is not a premier sport in the Australia, Sydney can still boast Francis Jeffers, Brett Emerton, Oliver Bozanic and Harry Kewell playing their football in the area.
There is also a wide range of writers coming from the area, including authors John Flanagan who wrote the Ranger’s Apprentice novel series and Anh Do, as well as award winning journalists, David Marr and Kerry O’Brien.
