The city of Durban in South Africa is a picturesque coastal region with a nice warm climate and stunning beaches.
Unsurprisingly for such a nice area, plenty of successful people have come from Durban, and there is now another batch of names breaking through.
One thing South Africa loves is sports. Rugby union is arguably the most popular, and Durban local Waylon Murray is certainly one to watch. The centre plays for Golden Lions of Johannesburg and already has three full caps for the South African national team.
Another player progressing through the ranks is Patrick Lambie, who plays in the backs for Durban local team, the Sharks. Lambie broke through into the South African national side in 2010, and has been a mainstay ever since, accumulating 13 caps and 6 points so far.
As well as rugby, cricket is also a huge sporting activity in South Africa and one person to look out for is Kyle Hodnett, who has played minor counties in England and now plays first class cricket for KwaZulu-Natal.
Football may not be the biggest sport in South Africa, but the fantastically named Two-Boys Gumede who plays as a midfielder for American side River City Rovers is one to remember.
Elsewhere, motocross rider TylaRattray is another to keep an eye on. The Durban-born racer won the MX2-GP championship back in 2008, since then he has been riding in other forms of the sport.
Away from sport, actor AdhirKalyan is a face that should be recognisable to cinema fans as his work continually increases. He is currently starring in American sitcom Rules of Engagement and has also appeared in the likes of Paul Blart: Mall Cop and Up in the Air.
In terms of music, DJ Roxxi is a huge star in South Africa having gained fame as the only Indian female DJ in South Africa, enjoying success as a touring DJ and she has also branched out into other ventures such as journalism.
Another musical influence coming out of Durban, is R&B singer Selwyn, who was a contestant on the Australian reality TV programme Popstars, and later released the album “Meant to Be”.
With its luxurious scenery, it’s no surprise to see some of life’s good looking people coming out of Durban. Notably, Candice Boucher is a model that has appeared in the likes of FHM, GQ and Elle.
Another model from the area is the Tanit Phoenix, who made her name appearing in TV commercials, before also going on to appear in magazines like FHM, GQ and she has also branched out in to acting appearing in films Death Race 2 and Mad Buddies.
It would normally be difficult to get into contact with people of this ilk; however, thanks to directly.me it is now easier than ever.
