A 20-year-old South Africa international, Eben Etzebeth is one of the most promising rugby union players to have emerged from Cape Town for some time. The powerful lock, who is 6ft 8in tall, currently plays for the Stormers.





Jade Fairbrother

Jade Fairbrother is one of the highest earning models in South Africa. Born in Cape Town, she has posed for various publications, including Playboy. The 25-year-old is also a celebrity ambassador.






James Kerr Fuller

The 22-year-old cricketer was born in Cape Town but has represented New Zealand at under-19 level. He moved to England in 2011 to sign for Gloucestershire.





Tammy Hendler
Tennis player

Tammy Hendler is a Belgian tennis player, born in Cape Town, and appears to have a bright future in the sport. Although the 20-year-old has yet to feature at any Grand Slams as a senior, she did reach the semi-finals at 2008 Junior Wimbledon and the 2008 US Open Girls’ singles quarter-finals.

The highest ranked South African darts player on the PDC Order of Merit, Devon Petersen continues to improve. The 26-year-old from Mitchell’s Plain in Cape Town reached the Last 32 stage of the World Championship in 2012.

Figure skater

Abigail Pietersen won gold at the 2010 South African Figure Skating Championships, and competed in the World Championships in the same year. Her younger brother, Justin, is also an elite senior-level figure skater.





Lewis Rose

Lewis Rose is Canadian, but he was born in South Africa. A former executive of Maple Leaf Foods, Alliance Atlantis, Wood Gundy and Cryptologic, he is now a partner at Farber Financial Group.





Zanne Stapelberg

Born in Cape Town, Zanne Stapelberg grew up in the suburb of Durbanville. In 2000 she became a member of the Cape Town Opera Studio. Stapelberg has since gone on to perform in various operatic roles.





James Thompson

James Thompson was part of the South African men’s lightweight coxless four which won gold at the 2012 Olympic Games in London at Eton Dorney. It was the first time that South Africa has won a rowing gold medal.





Jody Williams

Signed to Sony BMG Records, Jody won the fourth season of the South African reality television singer competition ‘Idols’ in 2007. Her debut album went platinum and, aged just22, she has a big future in the world of pop and R&B.

Stelio Savante

Best known for his role in ‘Ugly Betty’, Stelio Savante has also made appearances in shows such as ‘Law & Order’ and ‘Without a Trace’. His voice has also been used on various video games, including the best-seller ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’.
